Dear Brethren,
Praise God for another Missionary Commissioning last Sunday afternoon. It is our 26th full time Missionary family t the foreign field. We formally recognized as a Church boy God’s call upon Missionary Jojo Latade and family to the country of Mexico. We thank God for calling may more labourers to the vast harvest fields, with their willingness to send. We look up to God for His sustaining grace and financial resources in adequately supporting this welcomed increase in the number of Missionaries.
We were reminded and challenged anew last Sunday morning service, especially from the book of Mark in chapter 1, on the emphasis in God’s Word on doing things at once, straightway, or immediately. The Word teaches the need for immediate acceptance of, and thereafter immediate confession of Christ. It likewise calls for immediate obedience in baptism.This act of obedience should come immediately after conversion. The Bible is replete with examples on this as in the case of the Ethiopian Eunuch, Paul. Cornelius and his household, Lydia, and the Philippian jailer with his household.
God’s Word moreover calls for immediate service. We are saved to serve! The time to begin is now, and the place to begin is where we are. The Christian who delays entering into service quite often never begins at all. David in 1 Samuel 21:8 expressed, “The king’s business required haste.” Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself declared in John 9:4, “I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
My dear brethren, we need to see the urgency of the times, and accordingly seize and faithfully steward the many opportunities God sends our way to witness and share His word. The Bible in Ephesians 5:17 aptly exhorts us, “Redeeming the time because the days are evil.” Would to God we are as Romans 12:11 would exhort us, “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” Let us immediately, and always obey Him, and consistently, engaged in serving the Lord straightway!
